Bit Space Featured in DNAinfo

IIT Architecture Assistant Professor Tom Kearns is featured in an article in DNAInfo Chicago about Bit Space, a new kids-only makers lab in Lincoln Square.

Leveraging Kearns' professional and academic experience, Bit Space provides a long-term progressive learning curriculum that is both fun and productive. Bit Space opened in June for summer camps. After-school programs will be offered in the fall.

Programs focus on three themes:

BITS is a rethinking of shopclass for the next generation offers construction projects which involve both traditional hand tools and digital fabrication systems

PRINTS utilizes small scale projects appropriate for 3D printing and teaches computer aided design principles and practices to help our youth become producers, not consumers of 3D printable content.

BYTES uses a combination of computer modeling and computer programming to invent amazing new worlds. You could call them video games too if you want your kids attention, but we know it's much more than that.
