Jong Sound Kimm (FAIA, FKIA), founder and honorary president of the firm SAC International Ltd., was a student of architecture Seoul National University, and completed his studies at IIT (BArch '61, MSArch '64). An internationally renowned architect and educator with a career spanning more than five decades, he was a member of IIT's Design Studio Faculty from 1966-1978 and worked for the Office of Mies van der Rohe from 1961-1972. He presently serves as Director of Design for the Hyundai Motors Group Global Business Center. 

In 2014 Kimm was awarded the Korean Institute of Architects Gold Medal, as well as the Order of Merit by the Korean government. A retrospective of his work was held at The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul. He is noted for work that includes the Oylmpic Weightlifting Gymnasium for the 1988 Seoul games, the Woo Yang Museum of Contemporary Art in Kyongju, and the Seoul Hilton International Hotel. In 2015, Kimm was the recipient of IIT's Alumni International Award of Merit, an award recognizing an individual whose achievements have strengthened IIT's reputation on an international scale. He will deliver a lecture on his realized work.
