College of Architecture Faculty Named ISTC ‘Researcher to Know’

College of Architecture Assistant Professor Rahman Azari has been named one of Illinois Science & Technology Coalition’s “Researchers to Know” for 2019. The ISTC is a nonprofit organization that cultivates economic development through technology- and science-based innovations.

For the second year in a row, the ISTC compiled the list to honor Illinois researchers who have made significant contributions in their fields and who are driving innovation in the state. Azari was included on this list as one of the state’s top researchers who is moving the needle forward for sustainable innovation. He is one of three faculty members from Illinois Institute of Technology on ISTC’s 2019 list.

Azari’s research focuses on the environmental performance of built environments and building systems. Currently he is working with fellow Illinois Tech Assistant Professor Mohammad Asadi of Armour College of Engineering to develop a prototype artificial leaf cladding that can absorb and convert carbon dioxide emissions into methane, which can be used in buildings’ mechanical system.
