Dean's Lecture Series: Wonne Ickx & Carlos Bedoya

Wonne Ickx & Carlos Bedoya of Productora, the  MCHAP.emerge recipients will deliver The Morgenstern Chair Lecture, as part of the College of Architecture Dean's Lecture Series on Wednesday, November 2, at 6 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall.

PRODUCTORA is a Mexico City based architectural studio, integrated by four partners: Abel Perles from Argentina, Carlos Bedoya from México, Victor Jaime from Mexico and Wonne Ickx from Belgium. PRODUCTORA´s work is distinguished by an interest in precise geometries, the production of clearly legible projects with limited gestures and the search for timeless buildings in their material and programmatic resolutions.The office is working on projects in Mexico and abroad, ranging from residential projects to public buildings. Its work has been presented in the Architectural Biennials of Beijing (2006) and Venice (2008), in the National Art Museum of Beijing and in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

PRODUCTORA has been awarded by the Architectural League of New York with the Young Architects Forum (2007) and the Emerging Voices (2013). In 2016 they received the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for emerging architects for the ‘Pavilion on the Zocalo’ at the IIT in Chicago. Amongst the many publications of the office, their first monograph by Arquine (2010) and the 2G monograph (2014) are stand-outs.

Carlos Bedoya Ikeda received his Bachelor's degree as Architect and Urbanist from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (1998), Master of Architecture, Critic and Project at ETSAB Barcelona (2000) and worked for Enrique Norten at TEN Arquitectos (2001), LCM - Fernando Romero (2001-2006) until he co-founded Productora in 2006. Currently a professor at IIT, he also teaches at Tec de Monterrey, México City (2007-) and Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City (2010-)

Wonne Ickx is an Architect and Civil Engineer from Ghent University in Belgium (1998), Master of Urbanism and Development from University of Guadalajara, Mexico (2001) and he worked for Neutelings Riedijk Architecten, Rotterdam (2001-2004), LCM - Fernando Romero (2005) and co-founded Productora in 2006. He has taught at Ghent University in Belgium (2003), Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam (2003-2004), La Salle University in Mexico City (2005-2006), Center for Design, Mexico City (2006-2009), Universidad Iberoamericana (2009-2011) and UCLA (2012-).
