Exhibit for CAF's 50th Anniversary

As part of the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s (CAF) 50th anniversary, Sarah Dunn and Martin Felsen of Chicago-based UrbanLab put together an exhibition exploring visions for Chicago’s 50 aldermanic wards, titled 50 Designers, 50 Ideas, 50 Wards (opens May 24).

Felsen and Dunn asked 50 designers to create transformative proposals aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in each of Chicago’s 50 wards. Seeking inspiration and answers about how we might grow, enhance and improve present conditions, the designers studied all elements of our city—streets, bridges, buildings, waterways, vacant lots and everything in between.

Among the designers are IIT Faculty: Martin Felsen, Marshall Brown, Lluis Ortega, Carlo Parenti, Karla Sierralta, Susan Conger-Austin, David Brininstool, Nilay Mistry, John Ronan, Carol Ross Barney, Ross Barney, Conor O'Shea, Monica Chadha, Amanda Williams, Jennifer Park, Michael Newman, Tom Jacobs and IIT Architecture Board of Advisor Ralph Johnson.

The “50 Designers, 50 Ideas, 50 Wards” exhibition opens May 24, 2016, in the CAF Atrium Gallery at 224 S. Michigan Avenue. Explore all 50 forward-thinking projects for yourself and find out how Chicago’s designers are bringing the future to life.
