This one-day joint symposium on The Role of Carbon Management in Creating a Pathway to Sustainability is designed to bring together representatives of academia, government agencies, business/entrepreneurs, and NGOs to explore the impact of CO2 on society as a whole.

Three panels of speakers will provide the framework for discussion of general topics including technological options for CO2 capture and sequestration, CO2 and the built environment, and the politics and policies of carbon management. Among the speakers are a number of notable faculty members from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Two keynote addresses will be presented, with Lynn Brickett the Carbon Capture Technology Manager, National Energy Technology Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy addressing DOE’s Carbon Capture Program and Karen Weigert, Senior Fellow, Global Cities at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs addressing the subject of Sustainable Cities in a World of Climate Change.

The program format is designed to promote active and in-depth discussion between panelists and participants with the overall goal of providing direction for future initiatives in all areas related to carbon management.
