New Faculty Announced

IIT Architecture has named three esteemed academics to its faculty.

Frances Bronet, previously distinguished professor and dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon, was chosen to succeed Alan W. Cramb as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Bronet, who earned her Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Architecture, and Bachelor of Engineering degrees from McGill University, will hold an academic appointment at IIT College of Architecture. Her Master of Science in Architecture is from Columbia University. Bronet, who previously held the position of acting provost at the University of Oregon, is a distinguished scholar, teacher, and researcher as well as an experienced administrator.

Ron Henderson has been named the new Director of the IIT Architecture Landscape Architecture program. Previously, he was Professor of Landscape Architecture and Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University where he also held the Chair in Integrative Design and was Department Head. He also was appointed Visiting Professor of Landscape Architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design where he taught core courses and seminars on Plants and Design. He was Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at Tsinghua University where he was inaugural faculty in the founding of the department. He earned concurrent Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Pennsylvania where he received the Bockius Scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame.

Lluis Ortega has been appointed Associate Professor at IIT College of Architecture where he is running a Cloud Studio. Previously he was Assistant Professor at UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) and Visiting Professor at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires. He has also taught at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Universidad de Alicante, Harvard University and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien. He was a member of the editorial staff in Gustavo Gili during 1999 and Director and Editor of Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme 2003-2005.
