Budding Architects Visit S. R. Crown Hall

Alan W. "Bud" Wendorf, Chairman of the IIT Board of Trustees, with his granddaughter, Maggie, at S. R. Crown Hall

Two dozen students and teachers from GEMS World Academy Chicago visited S. R. Crown Hall on January 29th and created colorful renderings of houses and neighborhoods.

Kindergarten students, mentored by students from IIT College of Architecture, learned how  individual homes and entire communities are created using "Tape Town" early learning cityscape kits. The budding architects also toured Cloud Studios and photographed the models and drawings produced by College of Architecture students.

The "Tape Town" event is just one of many events hosted by IIT and the College of Architecture at S. R. Crown Hall that promotes architectural education to people of all ages. In early July 2014, IIT hosted its fifth annual LEGO City Day attended by 1000 individuals of all ages from the greater Chicago area.
