Adjunct Prof. Lap Chi Kwong's Firm Wins Architectural League of New York Prize

Kwong Von Glinow, the practice of Lap Chi Kwong and Alison Von Glinow, was named one of the recipients of the 2018 Architectural League of New York Prize for Young Architects + Designers. The firm utilizes the reinterpretation of familiar architectural elements to develop creative design solutions focused on public spaces and multifamily housing.

The 2018 competition asked entrants to consider objectivity today as simultaneously elevated and undermined, in an era in which technology, science, and post-truths coexist. The theme was developed by the 2018 Young Architects + Designers Committee, which comprised past League Prize winners Neeraj Bhatia, Molly Hunker, and William O’Brien, Jr.

The jury included Bhatia, Hunker, and O’Brien, in addition to Tatiana Bilbao, Jorge Otero-Pailos, Georgeen Theodore, and Claire Weisz.

As part of the Prize, Kwong and Von Glinow will deliver a lecture on their work at the Parsons School of Design at the New School on Friday, June, 22nd. An exhibition featuring their work will open at the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Gallery in New York on Thursday, June 21st, and will remain on view through early August.
