ASST. PROFESSOR COUNTS DELIVERS KEYNOTE AT WI-ASLA CONFERENCE

Asst. Professor Maria Counts is set to deliver a keynote speech at the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Spring 2018 Conference, "Equity, Ecology, Economy." She joins a roster of keynote speakers that include Nancy Sommerville (Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Society of Landscape Architects), Christopher Counts (Asst. Prof. Count's business partner) and Dee Merriam, FASLA (a noted Community Planner and with Center for Disease Control). 

Asst. Prof. Counts will also appear on a panel discussing the topic of "Work/Life Balance" alongside Christa Schaefer (Department of Transportation), Ken Saiki (Ken Saiki Design Landscape Architects) and moderator Christa Schaefer (PLA, ASLA).

Maria Counts is an Assistant Professor in the landscape Architecture program at IIT. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cornel University and Master of Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Counts is also Director of Research at Counts Studio, an international practice where her work includes a range of projects from installations, to gardens and parks. 

WI-ASLA is the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, which represents more than 175 professionals, allied professionals and students in the landscape architecture profession through advocacy, education, communication, and fellowship. 

The conference is held February 28-March 1 at the University of Wisconsin
