Thomas Kearns' Bit Space, a youth center for after-school and summer programs that introduces students to design, engineering and technology, was featured on WGN-TV. Watch the video here.

Bit Space is located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood on Chicago's Northside. Beginning in June 2015 the lab offers full-day and week-long, summer camps for 1st through 12th graders

FROM HAND TOOLS TO CNC

Programs will focus on three themes:

BITS is a rethinking of shopclass for the next generation offers construction projects which involve both traditional hand tools and digital fabrication systems

PRINTS utilizes small scale projects appropriate for 3D printing and teaches computer aided design principles and practices to help our youth become producers, not consumers of 3D printable content.

BYTES uses a combination of computer modeling and computer programming to invent amazing new worlds. You could call them video games too if you want your kids attention, but we know it's much more than that.

THOMAS TALKS JIGS WITH 9 YEAR OLDS

Leveraging Thomas' professional and academic experience, Bit Space hopes to provide a long-term progressive learning curriculum that is both fun and productive. Currently in mid-renovation of their 5000 sf workshop, Bit Space is aiming for completion by May when they will open their doors for public visits.
