COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE GRAD GIVEN 2018 OUTSTANDING YOUNG ALUMNA AWARD

Since 1946, Alumni Awards have been presented to Illinois Institute of Technology's most accomplished, innovative, and influential alumni across nine categories, including Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna. The 2018 recipient in that category is Rebecca A. Buchmeier (M. ARCH ’06).

Prior to attending IIT, Buchmeier graduated first in her class from Harrington Institute of Interior Design. A notable interior designer and architect in the hospitality industry, Buchmeier developed the South American prototypes for Hampton and Hilton Garden Inn. She was the interior designer for the Harrington College of Design 200 W. Madison Campus and led the architecture team for a 234-key Canopy by Hilton historic renovation in the Chicago Loop. Additionally, she was project manager for a Hilton Hotel in Chicago and project architect and manager on the  Place at 28 N. Franklin in the Chicago Loop. Recently Buchmeier concluded more than four years of service as co-chair of the Pullman Civic Organization’s Beman Committee, helping to ensure the neighborhood’s historic preservation.

The Illinois Institute of Technology Alumni Awards will take place on Friday, April 20 at noon at Hermann Hall.
