College of Architecture to Host Ruth Baumeister for Lecture

On Friday, April 8, the College of Architecture will host Ruth Baumeister, an author, architect, and professor of history and theory of architecture at Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. Her research focus areas include postwar avant-gardes in art and architecture and historiography of modern architecture. Her most recent publications are based around failure in architecture and visual archaeology of iconic twentieth century office buildings. She has also authored papers on gender equality in architecture and academia.

Baumeister has previously taught at architecture colleges across Europe, including the Dutch school Willem de Kooning Academy Rottterdam and Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany. Her last job outside academia was as a project designer and manager at Studio FvH&P in Berlin in 1996.

Baumeister’s lecture will be held live in S. R. Crown Hall in Center Core at 2 p.m.
