Design Vanguard Recognition Awarded to College of Architecture Professor

Since 2000, the editors of Architectural Record—one of the leading architecture magazines in the United States—compile a list of the best emerging architecture firms the world over. This year the magazine chose 10 firms that represent the best of the best young architecture practices. Among the winners is Vladimir Radutny Architects, a Chicago-based firm founded and run by College of Architecture Adjunct Professor Vladimir Radutny.

Radutny and his colleagues were recognized for their body of residential work, which blends spatial logic, materiality, and an emphasis on light. Recently, the firm was recognized by the American Institute of Architects for its local renovation of a peculiarly shaped loft unit.

As a faculty member, Radutny instils in his undergraduate architecture studios the pursuit for cohesion in spatial organization and integration of natural light as a foundation for crafting inspiring spaces.

“Radutny's uncomplicated forms achieve architectural sophistication through simple but decisive moves,” says Josephine Minutillo, features editor at Architectural Record.

In the 20 years since distributing the award, Architectural Record has recognized some of the profession’s most admired firms and architects, including Jeanne Gang, Bjarke Ingels Group, and Vo Trong Nghia.
