Mauricio Rocha: A Lot With Little

IIT College of Architecture and MAS Context welcome architect Mauricio Rocha to share his experiences and key projects during a lecture at S. R. Crown Hall Center Core at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15.

Mexico City-based Mauricio Rocha is the recipient of the 2023 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize with the remodeling and expansion of the Anahuacalli Museum in Mexico City, and his work is included in the exhibition A Lot With Little, on view at the MAS Context Reading Room from October 26 to January 27.

Rocha’s concepts of form, composition, and material have deeply influenced a generation of architects and urbanists. Rocha’s work establishes a deep commitment to sustainability—he explores local materials and traditional labor practices—and that his work has a profound connection to context.
