Celebrate Mies van der Rohe‘s 139th birthday with the Mies Society! Join our co-hosts, Zurich Esposito and Alex Krikhaar, (ARCH ’91, MAS ’94) and the Mies Society, for our much-anticipated annual event. On Wednesday, March 19, a festive cocktail party will be held at the Arts Club of Chicago emphasizing Mies’ love for art both as a patron, collector, and an aesthete who utilized modern art in his drawings and inspiration for his architecture. This will be a particularly poignant event as we also honor longtime gallery owner, Rhona Hoffman, who has connected Chicago to the art world for decades. Enjoy a special performance by David Taylor, assistant concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The evening will culminate in a “toast” to Mies, an annual birthday tradition by his grandson, Trustee Emeritus Dirk Lohan. Cake will be served!
