Morgenstern Chair Lecture: Outsider Culture

The College of Architecture will welcome Morgenstern Visiting Chairs Julie Eizenberg and Hank Koning for a lecture titled “Outsider Culture” that will explore the creative potential in design as an industry outsider on April 7 beginning at 5 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall’s Lower Center Core.

Eizenberg and Koning founded Koning Eizenberg Architecture in Santa Monica, California, in 1981. The firm has designed award-winning housing, education facilities, civic projects, and more. The husband-and-wife team were selected as the College of Architecture’s 2025 Morgenstern Visiting Chair in Architecture, which is given to architects whose work is recognized as among the most outstanding in the field.

Eizenberg and Koning are helping lead the current College of Architecture studio titled Flight Time: Revisioning the Santa Monica Airport. The studio tasks students with transforming a California airport into a park.
