Expertise

Eva Kultermann’s interest in energy and resource efficient construction is informed by the hands on experience of having worked as a carpenter and contractor for more than a decade. She holds a Carpentry Diploma, a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arkansas, and an M.S. in Energy Efficient Architecture from Oxford Brooks University in England.

An Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the College of Architecture, she teaches courses on materials, and construction, energy conscious/sustainable design and community based design studios. Professor Kultermann is particularly interested in engaging local community clients and encouraging students to be informed and active citizens responsive to the needs of a changing world and equipped with the ability to address critical environmental, social, and economic challenges through design and responsible professional practice.

Kultermann is the co-author of Construction Materials, Methods, and Techniques, and is currently working on an ASC Coursebuilder module on commercial construction. Prof. Kultermann also serves as the AIAS Freedom by Design Mentor, where she has worked to develop strong relationships between the architecture program and the broader community.
