Summer Programs: Introduction to Architecture

IIT Architecture offers two introductory courses for those interested in exploring our undergraduate and graduate programs.

Experiment in Architecture is a two-week workshop designed to introduce high school students to the profession of architecture. Students will tour the city of Chicago, complete a series of design projects, and attend lectures by IIT faculty. The program will provide students with a comprehensive overview of the study and practice of architecture, and will help students make an informed decision about pursuing an education and career in architecture.

Experiment in Landscape Architecture program is designed to introduce high school students to the profession of landscape architecture - a rich and diverse field that incorporates design, environmental ethics, sustainability, sciences, and the arts. If you are interested in pursuing a career in the design, construction, or sustainability professions, you are encouraged to apply.

IntroArch is designed to prepare students for the graduate architectural studio sequence at IIT. It is highly recommended for students embarking on the 3-year professional Master of Architecture and Master of Landscape Architecture degrees (those without prior architectural studio experience) and is recommended for students embarking on the 2-year M.Arch with Advanced Standing (especially those who have not recently completed their UG studies). The course is also open to those not currently seeking a degree at IIT but are interested in pursuing architectural graduate studies in the future.
