Barbara Kasten & Alex Klein
Sunday July 22, 2018 | 2pm
S. R. Crown Hall
IIT Architecture, the Mies van der Rohe Society, and Bortolami Gallery welcome Chicago-based artist Barbara Kasten for a month-long residency at S. R. Crown Hall. Kasten will activate Mies van der Rohe’s iconic space with new sculptural constructions that will form the basis of a series of photographs that aim to dematerialize architectural space into abstraction. The work will remain on view through July 2018.
The project will culminate with a conversation between Barbara Kasten and Alex Klein, The Dorothy and Stephen R. Weber (CHE'60) Curator, Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania, as they discuss Kasten’s prior works and the recent on-site project. A reception will follow.
