Traveling Studios

Traveling studios are the most varied of the program offerings. They are usually built around a specific project to be designed on a specific site. Some traveling studios are conducted within the United States as well as more exotic foreign sites. The Spring 2012 traveling studio led by Adjunct Associate Professor Karla Sierralta was a collaborative project with the University of Arizona addressing a soft urban site in Tucson. Other past studios have worked in Morocco, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai, Berlin, Sao Paolo, Querétaro (Mexico) and Los Angeles. Trips usually run ten days to two weeks making them quite affordable and less disruptive of work schedules. Each semester’s traveling studio is presented at the studio lottery presentations and admission is via the regular advanced studio balloting process.
