Prof. Frank Flury Receives the 2018 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award

IIT College of Architecture Professor Frank Flury is the recipient of the 2018 Board of Trustees Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award. Professor Flury is Director of the Bachelor of Architecture Program. He has twelve years of experience teaching the Design/Build curriculum to undergraduate (4 th and 5th year) and graduate students in the College of Architecture. Flury is an architect and master carpenter who was trained in Germany; his focus is on the important connection between thinking and doing, an approach which has informed his leadership of the B.Arch program. His leadership has inspired a number of changes since he became the program's director. In his design studios students have designed and then built projects for numerous not-for-profit and charitable organizations. Inherent in these projects is the requirement for a high level of design while keeping costs to a minimum. Students have always donated their time to both design and building processes for these works.

This marks the first installation of the award at Illinois Institute of Technology.
