On Wednesday, October 30, renowned architect Clive Wilkinson will lecture at IIT Architecture Chicago in S. R. Crown Hall. Architectural professionals attending this lecture can earn continuing education credits from the American Institute of Architects.
Wilkinson, who is principal of his eponymous firm, is considered a pioneering architect in workplace interiors. His most notable work is the interior of the Googleplex, Google’s Silicon Valley headquarters, which functions as a campus, providing facilities for both work and recreation. The project garnered several awards including an AIA Honor Award. Similarly, Metropolis magazine considers the Googleplex interior “an early exemplar of tech workplaces.”
During the lecture, Wilkinson will discuss his new book, "The Theatre of Work," which focuses on the evolution of the way we work and the office spaces we inhabit. In it, Wilkinson proposes new humanistic principles that should inform the design of workspaces in the years to come. The lecture will be followed by a book signing.
The lecture is organized as a collaboration between IIT Architecture Chicago and MAS Context, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization that addresses issues that affect the urban context.
