College of Architecture Announces its 2019 Ph.D. Symposium

From November 15–17 the College of Architecture will host its fourth annual symposium for the Ph.D. program. The forum titled “Buildings, Cities, and Performance” will revolve around the theme of simulation-based and data-driven methodologies in environmental research. The event is held in collaboration with the Architectural Research Centers Consortium, an international association of architecture schools and research centers committed to furthering the role scientific research plays in the architecture industry.

The symposium will bring together faculty, professionals, and Ph.D. students, candidates, and graduates in architecture and engineering to explore how different research methodologies can be used to estimate and evaluate the performance of buildings in order to reduce environmental impact.

“The ultimate goal is to produce more sustainable built environments,” says Assistant Professor Rahman Azari. “Data-driven and simulation-based methodologies play a major role in building science and technology research that contribute to that goal.”
